Top 5 Great Things to do During the Holiday Break

1.) Play Wii--- I know that most of you will be with your family during the holidays and that means you will be around children. Most households now-a-days have some sort of video game console just dying to be played. These games that require you to get up off your lazy butts are perfect to keep you moving and keep the family happy as they laugh their butts off watching you sweat your butt off. I will admit, it gets addictive and if you are competitive it can turn into a great calorie burner!

2.) Keep it moving
--- A great deal of the holidays, especially if you are a visitor, is spent sitting around either eating or waiting to eat. I know most of you parents out there are saying, “Are you kidding me? I am always running around like a lunatic.” I understand that for some of you who have a big family or are hosting a holiday party there isn’t much time to relax. If you are a visitor though, lend a hand, get involved. You may not be at the gym but at least your doing something productive and rewarding to help benefit those around you.

3.) Work out--- I know I will be training most of you crazy gym rats on Christmas Eve but if you didn’t know, most gyms are actually open! So wake up early and go break a sweat before the holiday consumes your day. My suggestion consists of a whole body workout with some cardio because the holiday week can get pretty hectic and before you know it you find yourself too overwhelmed to make it to the gym. Get it done!

4.) Challenge--- Challenge some family members to a fitness contest! Why not? How about a pushup contest, plank-a-thon, sit-up contest, or some touch football? Everyone has the one family member or friend who is up to do anything fun or competitive so challenge them to something fun. I know Christmas day can get pretty boring sometimes so give this a shot.

5.) Change it up--- If you have been neglecting your workouts, nutrition, or overall fitness get back into it! Buy a gym membership. If you want your workouts to be a bit different, give some feedback to your trainer. A gym membership is a great gift for others who love to exercise or those who need to. Maybe save yourself some money and have a package of sessions listed on your Christmas list. Whatever it is make sure you are staying as active as possible throughout the holidays to work off the laziness and Christmas Ham!!
