Coach Nicks Weekly Workout - Live Fit, Get Fit

Hey VH Warriors!

We are going to take a step away from the weight lifting exercises this week and back pedal a bit back to healthy lifestyles and their importance. Yes, that’s right, I am most definitely talking to my 6 week transformers completing our 6 Week Transformation Challenge this month.

If this is your first 6 week transformation and you haven’t seen a change in two weeks just remember, it’s only been 2 weeks! Think of how long it took you to put on that extra weight and become out of shape. It is going to take some time to do that 180 with your body that you want and the best advice I can give is this: 1.) Be consistent. 2.) Change up your habits. 3.) Change your lifestyle. These things need to happen to see any type of change. Start with the things you can control like your workouts and nutrition.

Judging by many food logs that I have read these past 2 weeks, either most of my teammates are lying about what they are eating or they are doing a superb job at staying strict. The number one thing you need to make sure of with your nutrition and your training is you are staying true to yourself. Can you look back in six weeks and say you gave it your all? Did you truly work and sweat as much as possible in the short amount of time you spent in the gym each day? Did you binge too often late night or on the weekends?

If you train everyday of the week Monday through Friday that means I only see you for 5 hours out of the 168 there are in a week. If you aren’t losing weight or seeing a change in your appearance is it because the workouts aren’t doing it for you? I don’t think so. There are 163 more hours you have in the week to accomplish your goals outside of your training sessions. That means paying more attention to your diet, your physical activity and your amount of rest. I can’t be with you late night when you have a sudden urge to raid the fridge for goodies, to yell at you to walk away and go to bed.

DO NOT MISTAKE CONFIDENCE AND ENTHUSIASM FOR ACCOUNTABILITY. Just because you keep telling others and yourself that you are eating healthy and going to the gym doesn’t mean your body is going to transform. You need to live healthy to feel healthy and you actually have to commit to those training sessions and that healthy eating. Most people say they are working out each week yet they spend two hours on the couch when they get home. Get up and stay active!

For those of you who have been dieting consistently and haven’t thrown a curveball at your training maybe it is time to try something new like carb cycling or sitting down with your trainer to figure out how to change up your training sessions. If you have followed the same diet and style of eating but haven’t seen a change then maybe what needs to change is your diet. Why not try it? If you feel a little bit miserable starting out, that’s normal. It’s going to be tough but that’s why the accomplishment is that much sweeter! Being fit and active doesn’t have a snooze button or a summer vacation. The things that work the best often need the most attention and effort.

It is your body and your time. What are you going to do with it?!
