Hey everyone,
Recently I was preparing to compete at New Jersey’s Strongest Man but it was cancelled so I’m getting ready to compete at the next Bigg Dogg competition on May 25th. This is an interesting competition because it involves some events that I have not done in a competition in a while and one that I have never done. The one event that I have never done is the keg toss, so I’m excited to give that a shot.
Here are some of my recent lifts leading up to the Bigg Dogg competition in a few weeks. The last 2 Saturday’s I have worked on the circus dumbbell, hitting 160 in each arm. My technique needs to improve on this lift, and I believe consistency with this event is very important. I hit one of my fastest times ever on the farmers with 325 in each hand for 50ft in 8.6secs. I then attempted 345 and just missed completing the full 50ft. Also I was able to get one of my fastest times on my yoke with 720 for 50ft in 8.9secs. We finished the day off with stone for height which is choosing one stone to lift and increasing the height with each successful lift. I hit a new best height of 62 and half inches with the 330 stone.
The past few weeks I have been doing some overhead holds for time to work on my midline stability and shoulder stability. I worked on 225 for 25secs, 275 for 20secs, and 315 for 15secs. I have been hitting percentages on my Free squats and this past week I worked at 85% for 5x3, which was 485. Next I decided recently to work on my deadlifts standing on a 2 inch platform, and this past week I worked on hitting some doubles and did 3x2 with my last set being at 655. Check in week to week to get an inside look into my training leading up to the Bigg Dogg Competition on May 25th.
Following the Bigg Dogg Competition we will also be holding our own Annual Strongman Challenge to help raise money for The Micheal LaViola Foundation and their fight against pediatric sarcomas. This year we wanted to do something new to help raise money for this amazing cause and put on an even better show for our spectators . After the first two events, me and my buddy Tommy Yannuzzi will be performing a max log press for dollars.
If you choose to donate, the 3 options will be $0.25 per pound, $0.50 per pound, or $1.00 per pound!!! This will all be based on the heaviest weight that either one of us can lift for one repetition. Come out on June 1st to help support us for a great charity. Hope to see you there!
