#mytransformation - Coach Dan Goodman

As we embark on the 10th transformation, I was personally having difficulty coming to terms with my “why”. For the last 3 years I’ve been working towards the Gym Jones certification, getting my body and mind right for the completion of that course work. With the Gym Jones certification ending this past February, it has left me with the same feeling as when I finished playing College football, not really knowing where to turn next. Was it a strongman show, a new certification, running a marathon, I didn't have a clue.

Being engaged as a coach is easy, as I’m more concerned about the results of our clients than my own personal achievements. However, there's a certain aura that an engaged athlete exudes during their own personal training camps.

I've been trained for sport over the past 15 years. Staying active at this point has become habitual. The thing I struggle with the most is consistent food preparation and maintaining a controlled eating environment during the work day. My excuse is always that work and training get in the way of eating well. That is over! My work days, training days, and social activities are all planned out on a calendar. For the next 6 weeks my meals will also be included on that same calendar.

6WT 10x Objectives:

1. Lose 15 pounds of overall body weight

2. Lose 5% Body Fat

3. Improve flexibility

4. Improve overall work capacity

5. Maintain strength levels

I’ve numbered these objectives in level of importance for the upcoming 6 weeks. Typically throughout the year, it’s in reverse order. I’ll forever chase strength and power numbers, but for these 6 weeks, the food intake is going to take precedence over the training plan.

When the 6wt concludes, the goal before my next trip to the Gym Jones Advanced mentorship is to achieve/exceed my all-time PR’s at a body weight of 240lbs.

Lowering my body weight will improve my health and overall athleticism. That is the goal. This will be a trying long term task, and proving to myself that I’m mentally tough enough to get it done, is MY WHY!
